Aimhigher has created an exciting new programme of events for young people currently or previously in care to give them the chance to learn more about higher education. H.E. 4 Me is a free programme which aims to inspire and inform young people of the opportunities available at higher education, while highlighting the support available for those with care experience.
This programme will run each academic year, with the intention for young people to attend each event as they progress through school. As the programme includes events for Year 7 through to Year 11, we aim to support them through each stage of their secondary education and throughout their time in care.
We invite care experienced young people in Year 9 and 10 to the University of Worcester on Wednesday 29 March 2023. We invite young people to join us on campus to gain insight into university, explaining how this can be an option for their future should they decide this is right for them. We will share information on student life, as well as how to budget and manage money while studying at university. We will also be joined by Propel, who will be delivering a session on ‘Rights and Entitlements’ for young people with care experience. Young people will have the chance to speak to current university students and explore the University of Worcester campus, also visiting their Lakeside campus for some outdoor fun!
The event will run from 9.30am to 2pm approx. There is no cost to this event and lunch will be provided for attendees. Please let us know if you would require financial support to cover travel costs to attend this event. Young people will need to be accompanied by at least one school staff member or carer per school.
