With major redevelopments taking place across Birmingham, there has never been a better time for STEM Club!
Our Year 9 STEM Club at Balaam Wood School covered a wide range of careers from Structural Engineering to Environmental Science. For eight weeks, every Wednesday afternoon, a group of enthusiastic learners came along to learn about future opportunities in STEM and how these link to their school work.
Take a look at what some of our learners had to say when they were asked to complete the sentence ‘The best thing I learnt was……’
‘All of the different jobs that I could go into from Science for example an Ecologist or Geologist.’
‘The range of jobs you can go into revolving around STEM. Many of these jobs are linked as they end in ‘ology’ which means ‘the study of’. For example, Geology and Ecology – the study of rocks and the study of ecosystems. I can now name jobs and their definitions because of STEM Club.’
We will take a look at some of the careers included in STEM Club in more detail in future blog posts so watch this space!
